About Stephan

Stephan has been in the intellectual property profession since 2006 and handles work in a range of technologies spanning from software and electronics to materials science and mechanical engineering. He has experience obtaining patents for a variety of electronic, mechanical, and electromechanical devices including telecommunications devices, in-vehicle displays, wearable healthcare sensors, personal care products, 2D and 3D printers, and photovoltaic devices.

He also has considerable experience carrying out freedom-to-operate and invalidity opinion work. Stephan has a Masters Degree in Materials Science from Imperial College during which he spent time at the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) in Noordwijk, The Netherlands, as well as Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd. in Atsugi, Japan, investigating giant magnetoresistance in thin-film structures. He stayed on at Imperial College to obtain a PhD in the field of organic photovoltaics. Stephan trained with another central London firm of patent attorneys, before joining HLK in 2012. Stephan is fluent in German and has a working knowledge of French.
